Pragmatic Play stops supplying games to US sweepstakes casinos

One of the most widely used slot studios on sweepstakes sites said it would stop licensing its games to US sweepstakes operators, citing regulatory changes after the Los Angeles City Attorney sued Stake.us and named game suppliers.

Pragmatic Play, a major slot supplier to sweepstakes casinos, told NEXT.io on Sept. 2, 2025 that it had chosen to stop licensing its games to US sweepstakes operators. A spokesperson linked the decision to the changing regulatory environment and said the company remained committed to compliance.

The studio had already limited its content in several states, depending on local restrictions. The new decision extended the withdrawal to the states where no restrictions had been in place.

The move came weeks after the Los Angeles City Attorney filed a civil enforcement action against Stake.us in August 2025 that also named large game suppliers, including Pragmatic Play, Evolution and Hacksaw Gaming. Evolution pulled its games from Stake.us in California, and Hacksaw also removed titles from California sweepstakes sites.

Other suppliers had kept their distance from the sector. Play'n GO said in May 2025, "We will never supply our games to sweepstakes casinos," and Light & Wonder has lobbied against the model. New laws such as California's AB 831 and later bans in Indiana, Louisiana and Oklahoma expose game suppliers and other vendors to liability, and in 2026 Hacksaw also pulled its titles from platforms serving Indiana.

What it means for players

  • Pragmatic Play slots are no longer offered in US sweepstakes lobbies.
  • Game libraries can change quickly as studios react to new state laws, so check a site's current lobby before buying coins.
